Queen Consort Camilla Breaks Her Silence on Queen Elizabeth II’s Death

Paying her respects. Queen Consort Camilla candidly addressed how she was dealing with her mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth II’s demise on Tuesday, September 13.

Whereas greeting well-wishers with husband King Charles III in Belfast, Eire, Camilla, 76, stopped to talk with a lady named Barbara who was holding a photograph of the king, 73.

In an Instagram video uploaded by an onlooker, Barbara is heard telling Camilla, “You’re doing a tremendous job.” Camilla, replied, “We’re doing our greatest.”

Buckingham Palace confirmed on Thursday, September 8, that the long-reigning monarch died at the age of 96.

“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” an announcement learn on the time. “The King and The Queen Consort will stay at Balmoral this night and can return to London tomorrow.”

Charles, who wed Camilla in 2005, broke his silence soon after news of his mother’s death was introduced.

“The demise of my beloved mom, Her Majesty The Queen, is a second of the best unhappiness for me and all members of my household,” the previous Prince of Wales wrote in a statement shared via his Clarence House Twitter account. “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mom. I do know her loss shall be deeply felt all through the nation, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by numerous individuals world wide.”

He added: “Throughout this era of mourning and alter, my household and I shall be comforted and sustained by our information of respect and deep affection wherein The Queen was so extensively held.”

The palace’s preliminary assertion referred to Camilla as queen consort, which mirrored Elizabeth’s earlier hopes that her eldest son’s spouse would inherit that title upon Charles’ accession as king.

“When, within the fullness of time, my son Charles turns into King, I do know you’ll give him and his spouse Camilla the identical help that you’ve given me,” Elizabeth wrote in a February statement, celebrating her Platinum Jubilee. “And it’s my honest want that, when that point comes, Camilla shall be often known as Queen Consort as she continues her personal loyal service.”

Camilla and Charles, who has acceded to the throne forward of a proper coronation ceremony, had been honored by the late monarch’s needs on the time. The Duchess Camilla’s Studying Room founder has since been candid about supporting her partner in his new function.

“I realized that your house is a number of ft behind the monarch,” Camilla told The Australian Women’s Weekly in a July interview, praising late father-in-law Prince Philip for doing so throughout Elizabeth’s reign. “You’re there as a back-up.”

Elizabeth is survived by her 4 youngsters — Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward — and eight grandchildren — together with Charles’ two sons Prince William and Prince Harry, whom he shared with late ex-wife Princess Diana. Elizabeth can be succeeded by 12 great-grandchildren.
